Pastor Jeff Logan oversees the teaching ministries at SouthGate and works with the leadership teams that direct the ministries and resources of SouthGate. Jeff joined the pastoral team of First Baptist Church in 2002 as the founding director of the Calgary International Learning Centre and lead pastor of the Evening Service.Prior to becoming a pastor, Jeff was a senior consultant with a Human Resources firm (Mawandonan Consulting) that worked with government and private sector organizations in the areas of Leadership Development, Workplace Diversity and Aboriginal Issues. He has also served as a visiting faculty member with a number of colleges and universities in Canada, Japan, South Korea, China and is currently an adjunct faculty member at Alberta Bible College teaching Applied Linguistics and coordinating their Northmount Institute of TESOL. Jeff travels to Philadelphia to work on his Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership at Eastern University. Most recently Jeff spent time in Russia as a consultant with a fast growing company in Udmurtia and as teacher at the English Language Institute at the University of Delaware.
Pastor Juli Wells directs the Children and Family Ministries at SouthGate, leads the music team on Sunday mornings and oversees the Long Range Planning committee. Juli served as the Pastor of Christian Education and Family ministries at First Baptist Church when SouthGate was launched.Prior to joining the staff at FBC, Juli was the Youth Director for the Baptist Union of Western Canada (now CBWC )and the Mentorship Coordinator for the Ascent Leadership Program (formerly the Baptist Leadership Training School). Her entire career has been spent working with local churches – helping them to be equipped for serving their communities and the Kingdom. Juli has worked as a consultant with churches looking to strengthen their small group ministries, start or extend their youth programs and understand the opportunities afforded by the increasing diversity that has grown up in the inner city out to the suburbs.
Juli and Jeff have been married for seventeen years and have four children – three boys (Mason, Micah and Matthew) and one daughter (Maggie). Jeff and Juli enjoy traveling and have been all over North America, Europe, and Asia as tourists and teachers. As a family they have criss-crossed North America and most recently have traveled up to Alaska along the Alaska Highway in the summer and throughout the Mid-Atlantic region of the US while on a teaching sabbatical in the fall.
